Post Modernism

My media product is a product that will use inter-texuality as I will make the two members of the band wear T-shirts of other bands. These bands will relate to the target audience of my overall product. I do not feel that my product will mix genres; I will aim not to do this as I want to stay true to my main genre. Mixing low and high elements, I feel will be present in my product. The low elements will be the music; "Rock" music is considered low culture as it is consumed by the masses. The high culture elements will be the style of the video it will look well produced. Attention will not be drawn to the product as the main focus of the video will be the music, the narrative and the band. Fragmentation will feature as my video will jump around from shots of the band, to the narrative and then back to the band and then back again. The band will not be in it all of the time nor will the narrative be present all of the time. The product is meant to represent the song that is featured so the two go hand in hand; the audience are not meant to enjoy one without the other. The audience are not meant to notice the post modern elements intentionally because all of the elements that I have chosen to choose are going to be quite subtle. No playfully ironic elements will be present as nothing playfully ironic can happen. The substance is more important than the style; the music and it's accompanying video will be more important than how it is represented.

  1. I think we maybe need to discuss the high and low elements in more detail as I think you could be a little more specific. However - you have had a really good try and understanding the concepts of postmodernism.
